The Industry

Bringing it home.

With streaming services leading the way, there are more shows and movies viewed from home than ever before. And they’re mixed in Dolby Atmos. This presents big opportunities. But not to fear. Every step of the way, Pro Tools is with you—removing barriers with new innovation, integration, and power.

The Craft

Step into the story.

Footsteps behind you. Thunder in the distance. The roar of an airplane overhead. With Dolby Atmos, the action on-screen comes alive. With three-dimension, you tell a story with sound. And with a complete, integrated Pro Tools system, the tools to articulate it are at your fingertips.

The Solution

Powerfully integrated. In partnership with Dolby.

Bringing simplicity to a complex workflow requires deep integration. That’s why we’ve built key Dolby Atmos functions directly into Pro Tools | Ultimate. And because Pro Tools hardware, software, and Avid control surfaces interlock, they provide unmatched capability for immersive mixing. With the fewest pieces of gear. Adaptable to any size environment.

Ultimate integration.

Perform all your Dolby Atmos mixing in Pro Tools | Ultimate. Convert a track into an object or send it to a bed at the touch of a button. Pan objects anywhere in three-dimensional space. And with support for the Dolby Audio Bridge you can easily interface with Dolby Atmos Production Suite and mix and render on the same computer.

Scale for any production.

In typical theatrical Dolby Atmos configuration, you send 128 channels of beds and objects to an external renderer that prepares them for playback—in 7.1.4, 9.1.6, or even stereo or mono. With a two-card Pro Tools | HDX system you get the I/O you need for this workflow. For editorial or premixing, one HDX card (or alternatively HD Native) and the native renderer is fully capable.

One interface does it all.

Pro Tools | MTRX combines I/O, routing, and monitor control with speaker tuning in one. It is massively scalable. Customize it with the I/O you need. Connect multiple HDX systems to it—excellent for multi-operator environments.

Perfect for smaller sound design and mix rooms, MTRX Studio delivers the same all-in-one workflow in a fixed configuration and 1U rack space.

Two ways to render.

With the Dolby Atmos Production Suite you can mix and render Dolby Atmos all on one computer. If the scale of your project requires more power, the Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite is an external renderer—ideal for theatrical audio post production.
