Avid Certified Support Representative: Media Composer

The Avid Certified Support Representative: Media Composer certification is designed for individuals working in an environment running Media Composer systems. Whether you want to be certified yourself, or certify your employees, the ACSR: Media Composer certification offers real value and significant benefits. Like all Avid certifications, it is recognized by top post-production, movie, television, and broadcast facilities worldwide and serves as validation of a person’s skills to get the job done.

The ACSR: Media Composer certification demonstrates that you have the technical and operational skills needed to install, manage, support and troubleshoot Avid Media Composer editing systems in any configuration, on the Macintosh or Windows platforms. As an ACSR, you become the front line of defense in keeping the facility running smoothly. If you need backup support, your ACSR status gains you access to Avid's senior support team and will connect you to the worldwide community of Avid Certified Support Representatives.

FAQ

What do I have to do to be certified?

Certification is granted solely based on passing the ACSR: Media Composer certification exam. Course attendance is optional, though highly recommended.

What are the prerequisites?

Successful candidates will have extensive experience on Media Composer. Although course attendance is not required to take the certification exam, Avid strongly recommends candidates attend the following courses:

Media Composer Editing Essentials (MC101) is a foundational course covering how to edit on Media Composer. The class is available worldwide through Avid Learning Partners, and the eBook is available in the Avid Online Store for those who prefer self-study.

ACSR Avid Media Composer System Support (MC400) is a blended class, where candidates complete the equivalent of two days of content online as self-study prior to attending three days of hands-on training in the classroom. In the classroom workshop they will setup, install, and configure the components of the Media Composer systems and test typical troubleshooting workflows.

Is there any information about what is covered on the exam?

A certification exam study guide is available for every ACSR exam. For more information on what’s covered on the exam and to help you assess your own readiness to sit the exam, please download the ACSR: Media Composer Exam Study Guide.

I’m an engineer not an editor. What level of editing skill is required?

ACSR: Media Composer is a technical support certification for engineers and technicians who support and maintain Avid systems. However, familiarity with the Avid interface is essential for troubleshooting purposes. Any operational questions fall within the domain of troubleshooting. For example, it is assumed that you understand the location and use of project bins, program and user settings, etc.

Where can I take the exam?

The exam is offered at selected Avid offices and Avid Learning Partners. Contact your local Avid Education team for details on exam locations and schedules.

How much does certification cost?

All prices, including the cost of the exam and the recommended courses, are set according to currency values in specific countries and regions. Contact your local Avid Education team for details.

What do I have to do to maintain certification?

Once you have made the investment to become an ACSR, maintaining your Avid Certification enables you to show your skills and capabilities are current, and provides you with access to the wealth of premium level technical content made available to ACSR’s. You’ll also be able to participate and benefit from interaction with peers within the global ACSR community. Recertification does not mandate training attendance, but Avid’s blend of classroom and online recertification training make it easier and faster to maintain your ACSR status. Contact your local Avid Education for the latest details.
